ECU baseball ranked #14 in NCBWA poll

The ECU Baseball team received its seventh preseason national ranking of the 2019 season after being picked No. 14 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) the organization announced Monday. The Pirates have also earned national rankings from D1Baseball (No. 11), Perfect Game (No. 11), Baseball America (No. 12), College Baseball Daily (No. 13), USA Today/Coaches (No. 14) and Collegiate Baseball (No. 35).
The Pirates, who have made 29 NCAA Regional appearances, won their second American Athletic Conference Tournament title and hosted the Greenville Regional (fourth in program history) in 2018 after garnering a No. 12 National Seed. A year ago, the Pirates finished ranked in five national polls (Perfect Game/No. 21, Baseball America/No. 23, NCBWA/No. 23, USA Today/No. 23 and Collegiate Baseball/No. 29) after posting a 44-18 overall record.
Joining ECU in the preseason poll are 2019 opponents UCLA (No. 4), North Carolina (No. 7), Ole Miss (No. 11), Mississippi State (No. 13), Duke (No. 25), Connecticut (No. 35) and Houston (No. 40). Also receiving votes in the NCBWA Preseason Top 40 poll are Elon and UNCW.

The Pirates, who were picked first by The American in the preseason poll, began spring practice on Friday, Jan. 25 and are set to open the 2019 season at home playing host to Radford on Friday, Feb. 15 with a 4 p.m. (ET) scheduled first pitch.
