LORRETTO, Pa. --- Saint Francis scored the game’s first two goals and never trailed to earn a 12-7 win over ECU Saturday. Liz Blumthal and Ally Stanton each scored two goals for ECU.

GAME FACTS

Saint Francis led 32-24 in shots and 24-18 in shots on goal.

The Red Flash committed just 15 turnovers while forcing ECU into 23.

Saint Francis was 16-of-19 on clear attempts while the Pirates were just 11-for-18.

Saint Francis edged ECU 25-24 in ground balls.

The Pirates owned the draw control advantage, 13-8.

Saint Francis scored four goals from the free position to three by ECU.

Saint Francis converted five ECU yellow cards into four goals on the man-up.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Saint Francis scored two goals in the first 6:08 before Stanton got the Pirates on the board with 19:25 remaining in the fort half.

The Red Flash then scored three unanswered for a 5-1 lead before Mackell Schultes found the back of the net with 8:43 left until intermission.

Saint Francis answered with two more goals before Nicole Legar added the Pirates’ third goal of the game to cut their deficit to 7-3 at halftime.

The Red Flash’s Morgan Day then scored the first two goals of the second half to put Saint Francis up by six goals, 9-3.

Blumthal and Stanton answered with consecutive goals to trim ECU’s deficit back to four, 9-5, with 21:08 remaining.

The two teams alternated goals over the next 20 minutes before Saint Franics’ Shea Moran capped the scoring with nine seconds remaining.

The Pirates return home to face Columbia on Saturday, March 17, at Johnson Stadium. The first draw is set for 12 noon.
