ECU Adds Fourth Signee For 2018-19
GREENVILLE, N.C. --- ECU Head Women's Basketball Coach Heather Macy announced the signing of junior college guard Jade Lewis on Monday.
Lewis, a 6-foot-0 guard from Jacksonville, Fla., will join the Pirates for the 2018-19 season alongside freshman Tiara Chambers (Portsmouth, Va.) and fellow junior college transfers Nique Cherry (Laurel, Miss.) and Kaylee Jefferson (Sulphur Springs, Texas) who each committed to the program during the November early signing period.
Lewis is ranked as the No. 20 junior college prospect by All-Star Girls Report and No. 23 by Collegiate Girls Basketball Report and ESPNW. As a sophomore, she averaged 11.7 points and 3.9 rebounds per game and led Northwest Florida State College to a 24-7 record and a trip to the NJCAA Elite Eight. She shot 40.8 percent from the field and dished out 1.8 assists per game.
"Jade is a versatile guard that can score on all three levels," Macy said. "She has a scorer's mentality and can impact the game on both ends of the floor – we are excited for this outstanding addition to our roster. We are absolutely thrilled to welcome Jade to Pirate Nation!"
Lewis prepped at Oakleaf High School (Fla.) and led her team to a 24-5 record during her senior season of 2015-16, averaging 14.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 2.8. She competed on the AAU circuit for coach Kenny Kallina's Florida Girls Basketball program.
