Dwanya Williams-Sutton drafted in 5th Round by the Padres

GREENVILLE, N.C. – ECU junior Dwanya Williams-Sutton was selected in the fifth round by the San Diego Padres Tuesday afternoon during the second day of the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft.

Williams-Sutton, who earned American Athletic All-Conference honors after batting .331 with seven home runs, was taken with the 141st overall pick in the fifth round and is the first Pirate selected in this year’s amateur draft. He is eighth player in school history to be taken by the Padres and the first since Billy Richardson (14th round) and Brian Cavanaugh (21st round) in 2005.
