Another Greek organization off ECU's campus
There is now one less fraternity on East Carolina University's campus.
ECU says Pi Kappa Phi has closed its chapter at the university, effective immediately because of alcohol and hazing violations.
In a statement, the university says in August the national fraternity alerted ECU about problems that happened during the last academic year. While the investigation was underway, the local chapter was put under a cease and desist order.
Pi Kappa Phi's closure runs through at least until the end of the Spring 2021 semester.
This is the sixth Greek organization at ECU to be closed within the past year.
Sigma Phi Epsilon was closed in 2017, Tau Kappa Epsilon & Delta Chi closed in January, Sigma Alpha Epsilon closed in March, Phi Kappa Tau closed in May and Alpha Phi was closed in August.
