Yacht manufacturer bringing 200 jobs to Washington
Hundreds of new jobs are coming to one Eastern Carolina city.
Pamlico Yachtworks says it will build a $12-million manufacturing facility in Washington.
The company will employ 207 people in Beaufort County.
The new jobs were announced late this morning during a press conference in Washington.
Pamlico Yachtworks is the new manufacturing division for MJM Yachts, a powerboat company that's been building yachts since 2002.
Average pay for the new jobs could reach $45,637, according to the North Carolina Department of Commerce.
The company will get up to $1.7 million in a Job Development Investment Grant over a 12-year period from the state.
"This is great news for Beaufort County and Eastern NC that Pamlico Yachtworks has elected to locate their boat building business in Beaufort County," said state Representative Keith Kidwell. "Beaufort County has many people and a long history of building quality boats and we welcome another partner in that market. They will be bringing 207 jobs that we certainly need and will be able to fill quickly."
