The Down East Wood Ducks are hosting an exhibition game vs. the University of Mount Olive tonight in Kinston.

The game, which will be the first in team's history, is scheduled for a 7 pm start.

The game not only marks the return of professional baseball to Kinston but it will also mark the return of one of the most popular promotions in Kinston Baseball history.

The team will host a $1 beer night (formerly known as "Thirsty Thursday") for the game on April 3rd.

"Ever since we opened the offices in October (2016), we have been asked if a $1 beer promotion would take place on Thursdays" said Wade Howell, General Manager of the Wood Ducks. "I'm happy to announce that the $1 beer will be part of the 2017 promotional schedule. Not only will it be featured each Thursday but we will also feature it at other times during the season, including the game on April 3rd".

ON Sunday, Manager Howard Johnson and the Wood Ducks practiced for 90 minutes at Kinston's Historic Grainger Stadium and followed that with a Meet & Greet with the fans.

The Wood Ducks open the season Thursday, April 6 at the Salem Red Sox. Their first home game is Monday, April 10.

All tickets for tonight's game are $5 and are General Admission. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the team's website
