A woman's body was found inside a submerged vehicle in Greene County Wednesday night.

The vehicle was in Contentnea Creek, in northern Greene County near the Wilson County line, near Parris Road.

The creek is flooding its banks from this week's heavy rains. Several roads around this area are covered with high water and have closures, including Highway 58 (which is shown on the photo on this story) and Parris Road.

The North Carolina Highway Patrol is handling the investigation. The woman's name has not been released.
