Woman charged with killing sleeping boyfriend by setting fire to home
An Eastern Carolina woman is accused of killing her boyfriend by setting his house on fire while he slept.
Nash County deputies have charged Tiara Drake, 29, of Battleboro, with first degree murder and first degree arson.
Deputies say they were called to a fire at a home on Red Oak Battleboro Road around 4:40 a.m. Thursday.
The body of the homeowner, James McNair, was found inside by firefighters.
Deputies say there had been an ongoing dispute between the two, and that authorities were at the home earlier and Drake was asked to leave.
They say the woman later returned and set fire to the home as the man was sleeping.
Investigators say during interviews, Drake provided them with "in-depth details" of what happened.
The woman is being held without bond and has a first court appearance Friday morning in Nashville.
