Woman charged after deputies find drugs, gun in vehicle
An Eastern North Carolina woman was arrested on drug charges after she was stopped during a traffic stop in Wayne County, according to the Wayne County Sheriff's Office.
While the Wayne County Sheriff's ACE Team was patrolling the area of Stevens Mill Road they stopped a vehicle and became suspicious of criminal activity, deputies said.
Deputies then used a K-9 to search the vehicle and found a gun, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
The driver of the vehicle, April Wilkinson, 33, of Dudley, is now being held at the Wayne County Detention Center under a $15,000 bond on the following charges:
- Possession of a firearm by a felon
- Possession of methamphetamine
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
