Woman arrested on drug trafficking charges after three-month long investigation

NEWPORT, N.C. (WITN) - A woman here in the east has been arrested on drug trafficking charges after a three-month long investigation.

The Carteret County Sheriff's Office arrested 42-year-old Anique Pittman on Thursday for trafficking methamphetamine and heroin.

Narcotics detectives were attempting to locate and arrest Pittman on outstanding narcotic warrants when they saw her leave the Dutch Treat Mobile Home park. They then initiated a traffic stop on N.C. Hwy 24.

She was pulled over where detectives searched and found more than 68 grams of methamphetamine and more than 32 grams of heroin.

Detectives also found less than a gram of an unknown yellow substance and a little over $2,000.

Pittman is facing numerous drug charges and is being held under a $1,000,000 bond at the Carteret County jail.
