Winterville Watermelon Festival held this weekend

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - The 34th annual Winterville Watermelon Festival continues through Sunday.

There will be rides, vendors, food and music from Thursday, August 22 to Sunday, August 25.

On Saturday, Justin West Band and Parmalee will take the stage before headliner 38 Special goes on at 9 p.m.

Here's a brief look at the schedule of events:

Thursday: WITN Wristband Night
• 6:00 pm - Opening Ceremonies, Food Vendors, Commercial Vendors and Amusement Rides Open
• 6:30pm - JP Guhns
• 8:30 pm - Steel Standin' Band

Friday: Chick-Fil-A Family Fun Night
• 5:00 pm - Bingo at the Winterville Ruritan Building
• 6:00 pm - Vendors and Amusement Rides Open
• 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm - Chick-fil-A Family Fun Night with children's games and activities
• 6:00 pm - Straightwire Band
• 8:00 pm - Above Water Band

Saturday: The Watermelon Jam
• 8:00 am – Veteran Appreciation Breakfast
• 8:00 am - Venders and Craft Show Open
• 10:00 am - Pitt Community College Veterans' Appreciation Parade
• 11:00 am - Amusement Rides Open
• 11:00 am - 1:00pm - Dollar Days Parade Special. Right after the parade, from 11am – 1pm all rides will be $1 per ride.
• 11:00 am - Watermelon Eating Contest – Amphitheater Stage
• 12:00 pm - Free Entertainment at the Amphitheater Stage
• 5:00 pm - Bingo at Winterville Ruritan Building
• 6:00 pm - Justin West Band
• 7:30 pm - Parmalee
• 9:00 pm - 38 Special

Tickets for the concery are $10.00 in advance and $20.00 on the day of the concert. Tickets are available here and at Moore's Olde Tyme Barbeque in Winterville (7/17-8/23). Gates open at 5:00pm

Sunday: Salsa Sunday
• 1:00 pm - Amusement Rides until 9:00 pm, Salsa Sunday and various community events
