Wilmington man with guns shot after ignoring officers' commands
Police in North Carolina say officers fatally shot a man who had multiple firearms outside his home.
The Wilmington Police Department said in a statement that the incident occurred about 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Officers said they responded to reports of shots fired and that the suspect had barricaded himself inside his home.
Police said the 62-year-old man then exited his house with multiple firearms. Police said the man ignored multiple commands before he was shot. He died at the scene.
Police have not released the names or races of the man or the officers involved. The department said the officers are on paid leave as investigations are conducted.
Police said the State Bureau of Investigation is investigating the shooting. The department said it's also conducting its own internal review.
