NEW BERN, NC (WITN) - A woman accused of killing her husband over the weekend will remain in jail.
New Bern police charged 28-year-old Whittney Tankson with the murder of her husband, 40-year-old Kenneth Tankson.
The woman made a brief court appearance this morning at the Craven County Courthouse.
The District Court judge gave Tankson a court appointed attorney and set June 2nd as her next court date.
Police say they were called to the 1100 block of Church Street around 4:30 a.m. Saturday for the stabbing.
The husband later died at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
An Eastern Carolina woman is behind bars charged in the murder of her husband.

40-year-old Kenneth Tankson was transported to CarolinaEast Medical Center where he later died.
Tankson's wife, 28-year-old Whittney Tankson, is charged with one count of murder.
She's being held without bond and has her first appearance in Craven County Court on May 8th.
