White coat ceremony welcomes Brody School of Medicines most diverse class ever
East Carolina University's medical school is welcoming one of it's most diverse classes, but before classes begin next week, the Brody School of Medicine hosted its annual white coat ceremony.
The ceremony, where students don their white coats for the first time, wrapped up orientation week at the school, with new medical students taking the stage in front of friends and family at the health science campus student center.
This years class features 86 students, 55% of which are female, and more than half of which are non-Caucasian.
The 86 students admitted to the school were chosen from 1,074 applicants, which was the most in the school's history.
