Washington preparing for Dorian, sand available for sandbags
City of Washington staff have been busy with preparing for Hurricane Dorian.
Public Works have been cleaning storm drains throughout the city with a focus on our historically problematic areas. Jacks Creek has been pumped down and the pumps have been secured.
The city says Fire and Police personnel began gathering supplies in preparation of the event on Friday August 30th and The Electric Department is prepped and ready. The city has two additional electric and tree trimming crews on standby at this time and will continue to monitor the storm to see if any additional manpower adjustments are needed.
The city is also providing sand for citizens to fill up sandbags in preparation of Dorian. The sand piles are located at the ball field lot on the corner of West 3rd and Plymouth Street. You will need to bring your own sand bags and shovels.
