Washington man charged with killing roommate
Police in Washington have charged a man with murder after a disturbance early this morning on East 14th Street.
Police have charged Maurice Gardner, 38, with murder and possession of a firearm by a felon.
Dead is Dean Williams, 59.
Police say both men lived at a residence in the 300 block of East 14th Street where the shooting happened.
A neighbor says there was an argument and then a gunfight began between the two men, with multiple shots fired. That neighbor, whose car window was shot out, says Williams was shot while on the home's front porch.
Gardner, who is also known as Maurice McCullough, was jailed without bond, while an autopsy on Williams is pending.
A records check shows the murder suspect has a lengthy criminal record that dates back to 1995. Gardner has multiple drug, larceny and assault convictions.
He got out of prison in April after serving nearly ten years behind bars for being a habitual felon.
