Washington County Hospital reopening today, accepting patients Thursday
An Eastern Carolina hospital that abruptly shut down roughly two months ago has reopened.
The Washington County Hospital in Plymouth shut down on February 14 and declared bankruptcy shortly after.
The hospital is reopening under new management.
Former U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Thomas Waldrep Jr. has a role as supervisor and has been involved since February 22.
The lawyer and former judge is responsible for maximizing the value of the hospital, hiring employees and management.
The hospital is getting equipment and staff in place today and says they will accept patients on Thursday.
