OUTER BANKS, NC (WITN) Bikes and folks on foot will be the first to put a new replacement bridge on the Outer Banks through its paces.
The Department of Transportation, along with Dare County, The National Park Service, and local community groups, will be hosting an informal community day this Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to celebrate the completion of the Bonner Bridge replacement.
Folks interested in walking or biking the bridge can meet at the north end of the bridge near the Oregon Inlet Fishing Center in Nags Head.
Scooters, skateboards and roller blades will not be allowed.
The bridge is expected to open to traffic later this month.
