WITN's Teacher of the Week: Britani Becher from Chinquapin Elementary
WITN's Teacher of the Week for November 27 is Britani Becher from Chinquapin Elementary.
Becher currently teaches fifth grade math at her alma mater elementary school. She has taught for the past 13 years and says she takes pride in teaching and loves watching students grow.
Becher takes a unique approach to teaching, striving to make her classroom engaging and active. Her classroom consists of bounce chairs, scoop chairs and carpets. Her students complete “math stations” each day where students move about and complete five tasks and there is also a LEGO wall where students can build and create while learning math.
Outside of the classroom, she leads the Fellowship of Christian Athletes club, where students lead devotions, prayers and Bring Your Bible to School Day. The club has also adopted a highway in front of the school that they clean four times a year.
The person who nominated Mrs. Becher wrote: “She is a wonderful teacher. She received a grant from Farm Bureau to plant a garden and today they dug potatoes and they will cook and eat them next week.”
Congratulations, Mrs. Becher!
Every week during the school year WITN will recognize a Teacher of the Week on WITN News at Sunrise. The winner receives a plaque and $100 gift card for school supplies.
