Duplin County (WITN) - WITN's Teacher of the Week for February 14 is Kelly Guy of BF Grady Elementary School in Duplin County.
Guy is currently in her 18th year of teaching. She is teaching 6th grade Language Arts this year, though all previous years she has taught 3rd grade. Guy attended BF Grady as a student and says she feels fortunate enough to come back to her home school to work with teachers that taught her!
“I absolutely love teaching and cannot see myself doing anything different!” Guy says. “My 3rd grade teacher, Mrs. Nellie Davis, is the reason I am a teacher today. I totally adored her and wanted to be just like her when I grew up.”
Guy lives with her husband Chris, two sons and four big dogs.
The parent who nominated Guy says she greatly appreciates how she helped her understand EOGs and other important areas at the school.
She writes: “Her methods of teaching the idea of the day is always made to be engaging and fun for the class. Whenever you see her she always has her bright smile on and always takes time to speak if only for a second in passing. My daughter always comes in and says, ‘Guess what Mrs .Guy said today’ and ‘Guess what we did in class?’ No parent could ask for any child to be interested more and looking forward to going to class than the way she make her class students feel. I think she is wonderful and could only wish we could have her our next two years as well.”
Congratulations Ms. Kelly Guy!
