WITN’S Teacher of the Week: Jennifer Davis of Graham A. Barden Elementary
WITN's Teacher of the Week for November 21 is Jennifer Davis of Graham A. Barden Elementary in Craven County.
Davis graduated ECU in December 2009 with a Bachelor’s in Elementary Education, with a minor in reading. She is licensed to teach in North Carolina and Illinois. Davis has taught 4 years in North Carolina and 3 years in Illinois, the majority of her teaching in Kindergarten.
Davis is the wife of a Marine Corps staff sergeant. They have two daughters and two dogs.
The parent who nominated Davis wrote: “She has so much love and compassion for the students she teaches. Even through the hurricane she has showed her compassion. She checked on her students and sent information for the parents to help their children keep the songs and material they learned in class fresh while they were still waiting for the school to open back up. She has also offered to provide snacks for the families that were affected by the hurricane upon returning to the school and for as long as they needed. My son and myself were nervous for him to start Kindergarten, but Mrs. Davis had made it an easy transition for the both of us. We couldn't ask for a better teacher!”
Congratulations Mrs. Davis!
Every week during the school year WITN will recognize a Teacher of the Week on WITN News at Sunrise. The winner receives a plaque and $100 Walmart gift card.
