WASHINGTON, NC (WITN) - WITN's Teacher of the Week for January 23 is Glenn Crocker of John Cotten Tayloe Elementary School in Washington.
Crocker graduate from Mid-Atlantic Christian University in 2007 and graduated from East Carolina University with a Master’s Degree in 2013. He’s been teaching Physical Education at John Cotten Tayloe Elementary School for the last five years.
“My success as an educator is directly tied to the men and women that serve alongside me at JCT,” Crocker writes. “We love our kids. We love our jobs, and we know that our service is a necessity for the success of every other profession.”
Crocker lives in Washington with his wife and three kids; Colin (8), Brennen (6) and Kate (3).
“My favorite teacher ever is Jesus of Nazareth,” Crocker writes. “He loved all people and his service to others changed the world forever. My classroom is a place where kids are loved, taught and served. I plan to continue loving, teaching and serving as long as I am able.”
The co-worker who nominated Crocker describes him as “easily one of the best teachers at our school. He is a great coworker--always jumping in to help anyone in need. He takes his job very seriously--always looking for fun and engaging lessons about health and physical education. He recently shared a cardio drumming lesson using buckets and pool noodles with the students, and they absolutely loved it!
“But, what I admire most about Mr. Crocker is his dedication to being a good role model for our students. In addition to his physical education curriculum, he teaches our students manners, trying your best, and the golden rule of treating others the way you want to be treated. His greatest desire is for our students to be healthy inside and out--and to grow into productive and responsible adults.”
Congratulations Mr. Crocker!
