PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - WITN's Teacher of the Week for March 6 is Amanda Davis of Pactolus Elementary in Pitt County.
Amanda Schlaeppi Davis says she loves teaching third grade. She is in her seventh year of teaching and her fourth year at Pactolus Elementary, which she calls her “home away from home. I have an amazing team and a supportive staff. I truly love my job!” Davis writes.
Davis graduated from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington in 2011 with a degree in Elementary Education and in 2013 I earned her Masters in Elementary Education from UNCW as well. In 2018, she received her National Board Certification in General Education and is currently serving as a Facilitating Teacher.
The person who nominated Davis wrote: “I can say this has been one of the BEST LEARNING EXPERIENCES MY SON HAS HAD. She makes learning so much fun. She keeps my son attention and that’s always been a struggle. He has always had a hard time learning math every year, but this year he’s coming home enjoying it more. She gets right in the center of things with the kids. She really goes out her way to help the kids with personal needs as well as helping them learn....She really has a heart of gold and keeps the parents well informed of anything she sees that might be a red flag and what she feels will help your child. I ask that you please give this award to her--she deserves it so much. My son as bugged me over and over to please submit this to the news. SO PLEASE make my son wish come true. He feels very strongly that she deserves this.”
Congratulations, Mrs. Davis!
