WAYNE COUNTY: Inmate escape goes undetected for five hours

WAYNE COUNTY, NC (WITN) - Deputies in one Eastern Carolina county are looking for an escaped inmate who had a five-hour headstart on them this morning.

Wayne County deputies say Victor Castro was last seen walking north on Ormond Avenue in downtown Goldsboro. He was wearing a dark blue jail uniform when he left.

Castro was a trustee at the jail and was discovered missing around lunchtime during an inmate count. Through surveillance video, they discovered the inmate had walked away some five hours earlier.

Castro is Hispanic, 5'3" tall, weighs 135 pounds and has short black hair. He has known ties to the Cambria Drive area of Goldsboro, Darlene Drive in Dudley, J C Price Drive in Dudley, Brady Place in Goldsboro, Hack Drive in Dudley, Beaver Drive in Dudley, and Mobile Circle in Dudley.

The man was being held on misdemeanor traffic and resisting charges.
