Roofing contractor accused of bilking $12,000 from victims is located
Deputies in one Eastern Carolina county have located a roofing contractor after they say he bilked thousands of dollars from homeowners.
Christopher Carter was wanted in Craven County on felony fraud charges.
After asking for help from the public to locate him, the Craven County Sheriff's Office say a tip led them to a residence in Lenoir County where Carter was taken into custody.
They say the 47-year-old man, who used to live on River Road in Vanceboro, received money from multiple victims to do roofing work and never did the job. So far, deputies say he has scammed $12,000 from victims.
Deputies believe there may be more victims in Craven, Beaufort, and surrounding counties. If you are a victim, they encourage you to file a report with your law enforcement agency.
