Volunteers tarping roofs ahead of Hurricane Michael

MOREHEAD CITY, N.C. (WITN) - Dozens of volunteers are trying to beat the storm and protect homes here in Eastern Carolina before Hurricane Michael visits.

Parkview Baptist Church in Morehead City and the North Carolina Baptist Men are helping tarp homes that were damaged by Hurricane Florence.

The volunteers are hoping to repair between 10 and 15 homes today.

One volunteer, who is a tugboat captain, says he's afraid of heights but thought it was important to come out today and help those in need.

Michael is expected to bring tropical storm force winds and several inches of rain to Eastern Carolina.
