PITT COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Supplies are being collected to help those on the Outer Banks recovering from Hurricane Dorian.
Volunteers from Grifton Mission and the Grifton Shad Festival are organizing a supply drive to help people on Ocracoke Island, which saw devastating storm surge and flooding from the storm.
A trailer will sit outside of the Grifton Voluntary Fire Department starting Thursday afternoon to collect supplies. Items needed include cleaning supplies, gas cans, toiletries, and more.
Collection hours run Thursday and Friday from 3 to 7 and again on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Once the supplies are collected, they will be taken to Ocracoke on the ferry.
