Tucker Creek band and chorus prepare for fundraiser
A middle school in the east has been hard at work for the last few weeks, gearing up for a big fundraiser that will be held this weekend.
The band and chorus at Tucker Creek Middle School have been practicing for their Christmas gala on Saturday. Proceeds will go towards helping fund trips and other necessary items for the two programs.
The school's band director, Blair Dyal, says this is not only a chance for the community to come out and shop with the arts and crafts vendors that will be set up, but also an important opportunity for them to support these students and music programs.
Dyal says, "We love it because it gives one, them an opportunity to do something besides just school, but more importantly, it gives them a group, a place to belong and that's really where the foundations of what we do is based."
The event is being held at Tucker Creek Middle School in Havelock from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. and admission is just one dollar. Food and drink will be on sale as well, and there are more about 30 vendors to shop with.
