Man identified in Tuesday night motorcycle fatality

A Pitt County man was killed in a motorcycle crash that happened Tuesday night in Pitt County.

The Highway Patrol says the crash occurred around 8:50 p.m. on U.S. 13 near the intersection with Allen Road.

Trooper D.H. Hewitt said Lashaun Malloy was headed south on the highway at a high rate of speed. She said the man passed a commercial truck trailer, lost control and was thrown from the motorcycle.

The trooper says the 42-year-old man's helmet wasn't properly attached and came off during the crash.

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Troopers are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle Wednesday morning.

The Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 9:00 p.m. Tuesday near the intersections of Allen Road and Dickinson Avenue extension in Pitt County.

Troopers have reason to believe that the motorcyclist swerved to avoid a car, but they are still investigating.

They aren't releasing any names at this time.
