Teen charged in New Bern High School threat
A teenager has been charged after threats were made involving one Eastern Carolina high school.
Extra police were at New Bern High School Thursday after threats of a mass violent attack on the high school on social media were discovered the night before.
New Bern police, along with the Craven and Pamlico County sheriff offices investigated the threats and have charged Lamonti Lewis, 17, of Bayboro, with communicating threats.
Police say Lewis does not attend the school.
Earlier today police said there were a total of three teens charged in the case. But this afternoon they clarified that by saying only one of the teenagers actually threatened harm at the high school.
Warrants say the other teens got into a fight a week ago with each other at a restaurant. Lewis threatened via social media two days ago to shoot one of those teens, according to warrants, and that led to his arrest today in school threat case.
Lewis has a November 5th court date.
