Three shot at artist release party, suspects identified

BUTNER, N.C. (WITN) - Authorities in Granville County are investigating after three people were shot during a rap music artist release party overnight.

Officers from the Granville County Sheriff's Office, Creedmoor Police Department and Butner Public Safety responded to a report of shots fired around 11:48 p.m. Friday at the Carolina Chicken and BBQ Restaurant along Hwy 56 in Butner.

More than 100 people were at the restaurant for the release party. During their investigation, officers discovered three people had been shot.

All three victims were transported to Duke Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Butner Public Safety Chief Danny Roberts.

The shootings took place inside and outside of the restaurant. Officers recovered more than forty shell casings and eight firearms from the scene.

Authorities have identified suspects and are still investigating the case.
