OCRACOKE, NC (WITN) - Three pulled were pulled to safety around midnight before their sailboat sank off the Outer Banks.
It happened about 15 miles east of Ocracoke, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
They said a 47-foot lifeboat from Hatteras and an MH60 Jayhawk helicopter from Elizabeth City responded to the boat taking on water.
The helicopter arrived in about 45 minutes and hoisted the three to safety before the 41-foot sailboat sank.
The Coast Guard all three people had their life jackets on and were not injured.
