GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - Three registered sex offenders were nabbed as deputies in one Eastern Carolina county did a sweep of offenders on Thursday.
Pitt County deputies and members of the U.S. Marshal's Service Violent Fugitive Task Force did a routine address verification for all sex offenders living within the Greenville city limits.
More than 100 offenders were checked, with deputies still needing to follow up on 14 of those.
Deputies say three sex offenders were arrested for failing to report their new addresses to the sheriff's office, which is required by law.
Marcus Knight, 36, was jailed on a $100,000 secured bond, Jeffrey Weaver, 51, was given a $50,000 secured bond, while Alfredo Lopez, 31, was released after posting a $10,000 secured bond.
Deputies say they check the addresses of sex offenders throughout the year to make sure offenders are still living at their registered addresses.
