Teacher from Farmville charged with taking indecent liberties with student

WAYNE COUNTY, NC (WITN) - An Eastern Carolina high school teacher has resigned after his arrest for having sexual contact with a student.

Ryder Webb, of Farmville, was charged by Wayne County deputies with indecent liberties with a child, and indecent liberties with a student.

Webb was a social studies teacher at C.B. Aycock High School.

Deputies say on Monday the parents of a 16-year-old told them their daughter and Webb were having improper sexual contact.

The offenses happened when the victim was 15 and the teacher was 23, according to deputies.

He was arrested at his Farmville home with the help of Farmville police on Wednesday.

Webb was jailed on a $100,000 bond.

Wayne County Schools says the man was first suspended on Monday and that he resigned on Wednesday. He had been at Aycock since August of 2017.
