Tropical Storm Philippe officially formed in the western Caribbean Saturday, making it the 16th named storm of the season. The storm was short lived and has deteriorated down to a remnant low. By late Sunday night, the storm was making the transition to an extra-tropical cyclone and in the process of being absorbed by a west-east moving trough.
The low is projected to continue its north-northeastward movement. It will lead a nor'easter like storm, impacting the Northeast Monday and Tuesday with damaging winds and heavy rain.
