UPDATE: Suspect arrested in murder of 78-year old Robeson County woman

FAIRMONT, N.C. (AP) The Robeson County Sheriff's Office says that a man has been arrested in connection with the murder of a woman in Fairmont on Sunday morning.

Jonathan Martin Oliver, 27, of Fairmont, was arrested around 2:00 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

Oliver is charged with first degree murder, first degree burglary and robbery with a dangerous weapon.

The charges come after deputies responded to an alarm call at the residence of Annie Grace Davis, 78, of 70 Primrose Dr., Fairmont, at approximately 5:15 a.m. Sunday morning.

Davis, who appeared to have been stabbed during the burglary, was found dead inside when deputies arrived.

The Sheriff's Office says Oliver grew up in the community and was familiar with Davis.

Oliver is being held in the Robeson County Detention Center without bond.

North Carolina detectives are looking for a man suspected of trying to rob a home and leaving a dead woman behind.

The Robeson County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded to a Fairmont home early Sunday after an alarm went off. Inside, they found 78-year-old Annie Grace Davis. Investigators believe she was killed by a robber.

The sheriff's office said on its Facebook page that a suspect captured in surveillance photos as a white male who was wearing a gray stocking cap, camouflage shirt and pants, brown boots and green gloves.

Authorities say he left the home on foot.
