Storm the Stadium raising money for ECU student veterans

GREENVILLE, NC (WITN) - People climbed more than 3.000 steps Saturday morning to help local veterans.

About 130 people participated in the Third Annual Storm the Stadium at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium to raise money for ECU's Student Veteran Services.

ECU's Student Veteran Services funds programs to help local veterans transition back into civilian life.

North Carolina has one of the largest veteran populations in the country, ECU Student Veteran Services Assistant Director Nicole Jablonski said.

"I think it's a great way for our veterans to see the Greenville community and Eastern Carolina supports and loves their veterans because they're willing to come out here on a cold Saturday morning and climb all these steps," Jablonski said.

The event usually raises about a thousand dollars for the organization's programs, Jablonski said.

WITN is a proud sponsor of Storm the Stadium and members of the news team even took on the challenge to climb the 3,200 steps
