State of Emergency in effect for Hyde County
A State of Emergency has been declared in Hyde County ahead of the effects of Hurricane Dorian.
Local officials are urging people who live in the area to get their emergency kits ready and to have a plan in place before any potential storm impacts.
Officials will meet again on Monday afternoon to discuss the forecast and any additional emergency measures necessary to take.
Surf City town officials also issued a State of Emergency on Sunday afternoon. Mayor Douglas Medlin says all town officials and authorities are now focusing on storm preparations. Medlin is urging people who live in the area to do the same.
