OUTER BANKS, N.C. (WITN) - Some people on the Outer Banks will be able to go back to their homes for the first time starting today.
People will be able to return to Rodanthe, Waves and Salvo on Hatteras Island starting at noon.
The Dare County Sheriff's Office says sand and water are still covering alot of roads so people are urged to drive slowly and carefully.
Access to Avon and the northern areas of Buxton will begin at noon on Wednesday.
Re-entry to Frisco and Hatteras have not been determined yet.
Everywhere north of the Oregon Inlet on the Outer Banks is currently accessible.
