Simply Natural Creamery donating proceeds Saturday to help pay for local man's medical expenses
Simply Natural Creamery is donating 100% of Saturday's proceeds to a 20-year-old boy born with a number of rare medical conditions.
Maison Sanz, who was born in Greene County but now lives in Morehead City, was born with nine congenital heart defects, two left lungs, backwards intestines, his vertebrae fused and six working spleens.
He underwent his first open heart surgery when he was just a day old and has undergone more than 20 surgeries throughout his life.
Michael Fulcher, the marketing director at Simply Natural Creamery, has known Sanz since he was a child. He says he is a fighter, but is now in Stage 4 heart failure and requires a heart, lung and liver transplant.
Imaginably, his medical bills are expensive, which is why the ice cream shop wanted to step in to help.
Simply Natural Creamery has declared Saturday, September 14 Maison Sanz Day. All of the proceeds from both the Greenville and Ayden locations will be donated to Sanz and his family to help pay for his upcoming surgeries.
Larger, tax deductible donations are also welcome. Those who want to give can make a check out to Mt. Calvary FWB Church ATTN: Maison Sanz Account.
Sanz is currently hospitalized, but is hoping to be at the stores on Saturday to show his gratitude if possible.
