UPDATE: Onslow County teacher accused by deputies of sending inappropriate pictures to students makes first court appearance

ONSLOW COUNTY, N.C. (WITN)- A teacher accused by deputies of sending inappropriate pictures to two of her students went before a judge for the first time Monday morning.

Ashley Beasley, 32, of Stella, was charged on Friday by the Onslow County Sheriff's Office with 2 counts of indecent liberties with a child and 2 counts of felony indecent liberties with a student by a teacher.

Beasley appeared in court via video call on a TV monitor and was given an $80,000 secured bond and a court appointed attorney.

On December 4th, deputies say a tip was sent to Hunters Creek Middle School's online "HCMS-Say Something" site about possible inappropriate communication between a staff member and student.

Officials say the investigation found that Beasley sent inappropriate photos and videos of herself to two 14-year-old boys who are her students.

Beasley's next court date is set for January 13th.

A sheriff's office tells WITN that it is investigating accusations of inappropriate behavior involving a teacher and student at a local middle school.

Colonel Chris Thomas with the Onslow County Sheriff's Office says that they are investigating inappropriate communication between a teacher and a student at Hunter's Creek Middle School.

The sheriff's office would not elaborate further, but WITN has spoken with the mother of a student who claims that a teacher at the school sent her son inappropriate pictures.

That woman says she and her son have talked with investigators with the sheriff's office.

Onslow County Schools says that an investigation is ongoing.

Officials say that they learned of the alleged inappropriate communication when it was reported through an online school-level reporting system used by students to report issues when they are uncomfortable doing so in person.
