Seymour Johnson to house newest Air Force tanker
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base is officially the home of some new refueling tankers.
Air Force officials announced Tuesday that the base was chosen to host the KC-46A Pegasus Aerial Refueling Tanker.
“I am not surprised by Seymour Johnson’s selection,” said 4th Fighter Wing Commander Colonel Christopher Sage. “This is a direct reflection of the hard work our active duty and reserve Airman do on a daily basis to achieve our missions here at Team Seymour.”
Officials say the new aircraft will replace the KC-135R and add 53 additional on-base employees.
The new tanker is expected to be delivered by 2020.
