An airman at Seymour Johnson has been charged in the hit & run crash that injured a 5-year-old.

Goldsboro police say the boy was hit around 6:55 p.m. Monday while crossing Berkeley Boulevard with his mother.

The child was first taken to Wayne UNC Health Care and then transferred to Vidant Medical Center.

Police say they developed Russell Dinkins, 23, as a person of interest in the case. He turned himself in at the magistrate's office on Tuesday and later charged with felony hit & run and delaying and obstructing an investigation.

Dinkins was jailed on a $50,000 secured bond.
