A sheriff's office says that a three month long drug investigation ended with a car chase and an arrest.

The Pitt County Sheriff's Office arrested Darmel Phillips, 43, of Winterville, and charged him with trafficking in cocaine, maintaining dwelling/vehicle for the sale of controlled substance, and flee to elude arrest.

Officials say around 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, deputies tried to stop Phillips vehicle in Winterville. We're told that Phillips didn't stop and led deputies on a chase through the town.

During the chase, deputies say that drugs were thrown from the vehicle but recovered by deputies.

Phillips eventually stopped and surrendered without incident, according to the sheriff's office.

Officials say they seized over 3 ounces of cocaine with a street value of $4,800, over $500 in cash, and the suspect's vehicle.

Phillips is being held under a $1,000,000 secured bond.
