Seven more deaths attributed to the flu in North Carolina

RALEIGH, NC (WITN) - Seven more people have died in the state from the flu, according to a report just released by state health officials.

The Department of Health and Human Services say 148 people have now died this flu season. Last year there were nearly 400 deaths.

Most of the deaths this season are those 65 years old and above, while several children have also died. Among those was a child under four years.

The highest number of deaths during a one week period was a month ago when 29 people died.

Flu season in North Carolina runs through the middle of May.
