Sensory path unveiled at Elmhurst Elementary

PITT COUNTY, NC (WITN) An elementary school here in the east is introducing a new way to play while you work.

Elmhurst Elementary School in Pitt County has recently installed a sensory path in the hallway of the school.

Teachers and parents hope this will give kids mental and physical stimulation at the same time. They also believe it will burn off energy, increase focus and lessen classroom disruptions.

Kylene Dibble, Parents for Public Schools Executive Director, says, "So it's a great opportunity for children to really practice that whole-brain learning that so many of our teachers teach about with not only using their minds but their bodies."

A parent who came up with the idea was inspired by a similar path in school in Canada.
