Saturday event in Washington offers support to those battling addictions
An event this Saturday along the Washington waterfront is meant to offer support to those with families and/or loved ones who are struggling with drug addictions or alcoholism or for ones struggling themselves.
Same Power Ministries and Catering from Chocowinity is hosting "Shine the Light 2018 at Festival Park from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
Several support groups from the surrounding area will be participating. They will have small tents set up with various exhibits of resources available.
There will also be guest speakers giving their testimonies as well as four live bands throughout the day.
BBQ sandwiches, a bag of chips, and a canned drink or bottle of water will be served all free of charge.
The group says, "The purpose of this event is to Shine Our Lights & let people all around us know that "they are not alone!" & "we care!" Many people get caught up in addictions and do not realize they can get help and beat it coming out stronger than ever before; that's what we want to help them see & show them love."
Event organizers are requesting drinks and/or waters to be donated for this if possible. They are also in need of hamburger buns, bags of chips and napkins and say any donation of any size whether monetary or food is greatly appreciated.
