Silver Alert cancelled for missing Wayne County man

WAYNE COUNTY, NC (WITN) - A statewide Silver Alert has been canceled for a missing Wayne County man.

Vance Perkins III was found in South Carolina, according to deputies.

The 68-year-old was disoriented when a South Carolina state trooper stopped him in Columbia.

Deputies say the man didn't know where he was and was taken to a hospital for an evaluation.

His family is now en route to South Carolina to be with him.

A statewide Silver Alert has been issued for a man last seen in the east.

Wayne County deputies are looking for 68-year-old Vance Perkins III who was last seen at 1224 E New Hope Road in Goldsboro

He is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Perkins is 5' 6", about 130 pounds with gray hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a black and red plaid shirt, blue jeans and black tennis shoes.

Deputies say he could be headed to South Carolina in a pewter GMS Sierra truck with the North Carolina license plate number XPH2528 . The truck has a silver tool box on the back.
