SHERIFF: Drug task force busts marijuana growing operation in Pasquotank County

PASQUOTANK COUNTY, N.C. (WITN)- Two people are facing drug trafficking charges following their arrest.

The Pasquotank County Sheriff's Office says that Joseph Bass and Tiffany Williams, both of Elizabeth City, are charged with 2 counts of trafficking of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling, manufacturing marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Bass is also facing an additional charged of possession of a firearm by a felon.

On Thursday, members of the Albemarle Drug Task Force and the Elizabeth City Police Department served a search warrant at a home in the 700-block of Griffin Swamp Road.

During that search, investigators say they found an indoor marijuana manufacturing operation with numerous plants and packaged marijuana.

Around 16 pounds of marijuana was seized, deputies say.

Bass is being held on a $111,000 secured bond while Williams was given a $20,500 secured bond.
